WELCOME!

Welcome and best wishes to all who take special joy in the process of reading – simply curling up with a good book or short story and savoring the moments of the journey.  An extra-special welcome goes to those whose reading enjoyment embraces a variety of real world and fictional genres. That, in fact, is what this website is all about. The highlighted books touch military and  American history, the sport of baseball and -- most recently – a widely acclaimed fiction political action thriller. Short stories range from adventure/suspense/sci-fi to family, sports, humor, and many points in between. Poetry lovers may also welcome the broad menu of topics and take special note of an Iliad Press International Writing Competition Grand Prize Winner.
  • Military history and retrospectives. Two In the Shadows of Victory and the Taking Command books tell the stories of military leaders whose accomplishments have often been overlooked; even though our nation owes them considerable debts, their achievements have been too seldom acknowledged and too little celebrated. Boots and Saddles: Military Leaders of the American West and Battlefields of Nebraska provide encompassing looks at the conflicts waged across the Great Plains and American West, the landscapes and locations where they were fought and the commanders who led the forces. A Pilgrim in Unholy Places: Stories of a Mustang Colonel provides personal retrospectives on Vietnam and the Gulf War, reminiscences about leading some of the first American troops into Sarajevo, guiding a unit through a terrorist episode, and many more stories from a long, diverse military career.
  • Touching All the Bases: Baseball in 101 Fascinating Stories tells the complete story of the sport and covers every facet of the game: its history, special moments, management, equipment, and much, much more.
  • The YouTube Candidate is a political action thriller set in the divisive atmosphere of the present day. Highly acclaimed for its prescient anticipation of events, a recent “Poets & Writers” review stated “The book is unique in its conception and masterful in its content. Replete with warmth, humor, and unexpected moments of peril, The YouTube Candidate superbly captures the danger of the present and the possibilities for the future.”
  • “The Day After Tuesday,” a poem about 9/11, was the Iliad Press international writing competition Grand Prize winner. “Doubleheader at Mudville” speculates about what might have happened if the Mighty Casey had “played two” on that fateful day.
